A New Low in Sports Journalism

On July 29, 2015 arguably the most important newspaper in the United States devoted their entire sports page to the most trivial and over-hyped issue in all of sports – the Tom Brady Deflategate saga. How many real sports events took place on that day that were not, apparently, worthy of coverage? Not satisfied with the entire page, the Journal devoted yet another column to the issue the following day. Then on August 13, WSJ columnist Jason Gay decided he needed to revisit the issue, saying “the whole drama has been top  to bottom overblown, low-grade misconduct spun into a grand scandal.”  Yes, true of course, but you and your paper were leading the charge.  Everyone who has ever respected the WSJ should be embarassed.
