Readers Rage back!

FORGIVENESS!

Readers Rage Back!

A day in the life of our postmaster

We are, of course, amazed that our readers occasionally disagree with our brilliant and witty essays. In fact, sometimes quite a few readers think that The Outrage editors are wrong, misanthropic, idiotic, selfish, deluded, or all of the above.

Mother Outrage always told us that even the dull and the ignorant should have their say, so we've allowed space below for those dissenting opinions (and for shameless flattery).

The father has to take all credit for this accident. He is responsble for his son and regarding to that he had never should let his son drive. Therefore the father should be punished for this

regarding the boy who hit-and-runned the woman on the bicycle, the boy should be held accountable for his driving actions. if he didn't have a liscence, he should not have been behind the wheel of a car. my eleven year old son was hit-and-runned by a car this summer, my son died 23 days later, the man driving the car fled to mexico, and no efforts have been made to capture this killer, at least the boy who killed that woman had his day in court.

Re: The unlicensed driver who ran down the unfortunate biker - Hey, too bad! He probably wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol, so it is no big deal; not a part of the "war on drugs", ergo, no big deal. Besides, since he didn't have any training, he is probably "poor", somehow economically and definitely culturally impoverished; i.e., not RESPONSIBLE. C'mon you cynics; get with it.

The hospital deal is a lot more difficult to, well, deal with. I am firmly convinced that health care cost upward spiral is due primarily to 1. Federal Regulations ; 2. Third Payer payment. Both 1 and 2 refer to paternalisitic schemes which rely on the concept that the client is too stupid to care for himself in the health care market.

So today we have the spector of the First Fibber laying out his vision of a "Health Care Bill of Rights". Give me a break. What is next, a "Footwear Bill of Rights"? Dr. Martens for the masses?

Both cases show how the solution to so many of our contemporary problems is the same as the solution to so many problems in the past - personal responsibility. You drive like crap and harm others, YOU are responsible. You are so improvident as you cannot care for your own children, YOU are responsible. You feel so insignificant, the boss or the king(I mean Guvmint) must be your "doctor"? YOU are responsible.

I think we need to imprison all honest & responsible people so they'll be safe from all the dishonest, irresponsible people.

Regarding aerial's comment below: arcane? self-serving? rubbish? Does that mean you don't like us? No need to be obtuse - just say what you mean.

This column had become so arcane and so self-serving I decided I needed to take a break from reading this rubbish. Well, I read it today for the first time in several weeks -- and it's still rubbish. See you in a month or two or three...

Name: Dick (dkahane@cais.com) Time: 11/20/97 (11:2:21)
And why was the unlicensed Timothy Rinehart driving that car? Because his father, who "happened to be in the car with him," was too drunk to drive. According to Timothy's cousin, who was in the back seat, the father grabbed the wheel just before the accident and was the cause of the accident. The father is now on trial for manslaughter

The person who think this is going to far listen to the comedy show of RUSH and don"t know it is a comedy show......

Name: Chris (cdudle71@mail.caps.maine.edu) Time: 11/20/97 (9:27:34)
Why can't I read half the article, it is in the black part so you can't read anything there, so the article makes no sense.

Sarcasm? What sarcasm?

Today's Outrage certainly points out the nature of society in today's US ... =everybody= is a victim, =nobody= is responsible for his actions. Take those poor Columbia/HCA executives, for example: they are utterly blameless and should certainly NOT be held responsible for the criminal activities of the company which they headed; they were only doing what others like them do and =that's= OK, otherwise they'd be repressed and unhappy. As for the kid, well, if Dad was with him, it must've been OK, after all, =he= (Dad) is a responsible adult, isn't he?

Sheesh! Lighten up, guys!

I disagree with Qqqq.... We are daily faced with such outrageous stuff, a little sarcasm helps to "swallow the pill". Keep it coming!!

Name: DO editorial (editor@theoutrage.com) Time: 11/20/97 (7:29:12)
The scary thing is that some people don't even realize we're being sarcastic.

Name: Qqqq (No email address provided) Time: 11/20/97 (6:53:13)
I like your column, but the tone is getting too sarcastic. This last article about the bike accident was just too much. How about just reporting on the outrage?
